Last weekend was spent visiting my new nephew Oscar in Luxembourg. Oscar’s now the grand old age of 6 weeks, and is sporting a burgeoning sock collection. My favorites were his *smily face socks*, which were – according to my sister – bought for Oscar by her Portuguese cleaner.

I have no idea what socks prince William was wearing on his big day, however I decided to celebrate the occasion by indulging in a new pair of Richard James’ finest.

So it was a case of spotted a pair of Richard James hounds tooth socks accompanied by a pair of Vivienne Westwood check trousers and a pair of Eterno brown suede loafers.

On the way back home to London, I popped by to see my old NAPA buddies in Washington DC. Having hot footed it from New York after spending the night before dressed as a cat, I thought I’d celebrate with a brand new pair of Italian socks kindly donated by my meme-mate @AlbinoRiotMan.

So it’s a case of SPOTTED, a fine pair of green Lorenzo Uomo socks AT the Washington Plaza hotel. And I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the Uomo’s (which BTW are bizarrely a New Zealand brand!)- as they proved a snug fit, although the higher-leg fitting requires some getting used to . . .

Last weekend was an NYC weekend – spent hanging with Sock Girl at the Soho Grand and trawling the streets for the *finest burger in Manhattan*. We eventually tracked down the *Black Label Burger* at the seriously cool Minetta Tavern in the West Village – thanks to ever burger-studious Jen.

And what socks does such an occasion demand – well, the finest burger requires the finest socks – a pair of my loveliest Comme des Garcons. And what do you wear with a fine pair of Comme des Garcons socks – a pair of seriously awesome Vivienne Westwood check trousers.

Geeks may have more power and more money than ever, however they have no idea whatsoever when it comes to sock style, with a high preference for *white socks and trainers – definitely not cool.

Sun, sea, surf n’ socks

Socks and Australia don’t massively make the best bed-fellows. Quite simply, the Australian way of life (sun, sea, surf) doesn’t need socks. This is of course mildly frustrating for a self-proclaimed *sock lover*, as since my travels over here I’ve had to do the most *sockreligious* of sock etiquette, and have been wearing my socks sub-ankle length.

Wearing a pair of the finest socks known to man tucked into your shoes would normally make me weep, however I’ve come to accept that in the land of the *board short and thongs*, surf is king leaving socks playing a bit part.

So it’s a case of SPOTTED a pair of scarlet Patherella socks *folded-sub-ankle* at Federation Square [watching Julian Assange's speech on the big screen].
